Applications for mail-in ballots available online in Kane County
Kane County voters who plan to cast ballots in the Nov. 3 general election now can apply for a vote-by-mail ballot, Clerk John A. Cunningham said Wednesday.
"With a vote-by-mail ballot, you can vote safely and securely from the convenience of your home and avoid lines or crowds at the polling place on Election Day," Cunningham said in a written statement.
The application is available online at kanecountyelections.org/votebymail and is a one-step process. After completing the application online, applicants will receive a confirmation email indicating their application was accepted. Online applicants must have a valid email address.
Vote-by-mail ballots will be mailed to the address at which the voter is registered (unless a different mailing address is provided). Per state law, ballots cannot be mailed until Sept. 24.
Voters who do not wish to apply online also can request a vote-by-mail application by phone at (630) 232-5990, or in person at the clerk's office. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded from the clerk's website at kanecountyelections.org.
Vote-by-mail ballot requests must be received in the clerk's office no later than Oct. 29. Completed ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day.
