Lombard drives collecting blood, food

Two opportunities to give back - a blood drive and a food drive - are scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, in Lombard.

The blood drive is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Yorktown Convenience Center, the plaza behind the McDonald's near Highland Avenue and 22nd Street at 24 Yorktown Center. Appointments are encouraged by emailing bauerc@villageoflombard.org or by visiting versiti.org/il and searching for "Lombard."

Safe social distancing protocols will be in place and donors are encouraged to eat a healthy meal before giving blood.

The food drive is planned for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Yorktown Center, suites 24 and 42, as well as 4 to 7 p.m. at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St. Requested items include pasta, pasta sauce and canned vegetables. Donors unable to attend can contact 48th District state Rep. Terra Costa Howard at (630) 812-9494 or RepTCH48@gmail.com for porch pickup.

Donations will benefit Lombard-area food pantries.
