Upper, lower Fox River closed

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources closed the upper and lower Fox River at 4 p.m. Thursday due to hazardous navigation conditions.

Earlier in the day, the lower and upper rivers were under no-wake restrictions as of 8:30 a.m.

On Wednesday, the IDNR reported that the Fox River reached heights of over 7 feet at the Algonquin Dam Tailwater stage.

The forecast reports the river will continue rising to near 10.7 feet by this morning and then begin falling.

Lakes remain open for boating with a debris advisory.
