3 men charged with robbing teen selling THC cartridges in Glen Ellyn

Three men are charged with armed robbery after being accused of stealing THC cartridges from a teen at gunpoint Sunday in Glen Ellyn.

Authorities say one of them wore a medical mask.

"If anyone thinks that the current health crisis will in some way hamper police operations in DuPage County, the quick apprehension of these three defendants sends the message loud and clear that our law enforcement officers will continue to protect and serve the residents of DuPage County," DuPage State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.

Semaj Jones, 19, of the 200 block of Iroquois Road in Hillside; Samuel Holland, 18, of the 200 block of Hillside Road, Hillside; and Kyeren George, 19, of the 10400 block of Waterford Drive, Westchester, appeared in bond court Monday morning. DuPage County Judge Jeffrey MacKay set bail at $500,000 for Jones and George and at $350,000 for Holland. All three are charged with armed robbery with a firearm.

Authorities said the victim used Snapchat to arrange a meeting with a stranger on Cedar Lane in Glen Ellyn to sell THC vaping cartridges. Around 4:05 p.m., the victim was sitting in his car when Jones got in the front passenger seat and displayed a gun, authorities said.

George, who was wearing a medical mask, then opened the driver's-side door and pointed a gun at the back of the victim's head, authorities said.

The two took the THC cartridges, the 16-year-old victim's Air Jordan gym shoes and $4 and then fled, according to court records.

The victim called 911 while following them in his car. A Glen Ellyn police officer noticed the suspects' car driving erratically and stopped it.

Two loaded Glock 9 mm handguns were found in the car, police said.
