Stevenson postpones prom; graduation, Spring Fling may follow

Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire is postponing its prom and may do the same with graduation and the annual Spring Fling event, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, school officials announced Wednesday.

Prom will be tentatively rescheduled for either Saturday, June 20 or Saturday, July 18, officials said on the school's Facebook page.

If May's Spring Fling is canceled, the school intends to hold a "Patriot Palooza" for all Stevenson students from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 26 or Friday, July 24. Similar to Spring Fling, the event will feature food trucks, inflatables, a softball tournament, a cricket tournament, ultimate Frisbee and more.

Officials said they hold out hope graduation will take place as scheduled on Friday, May 22, but they're working to set up an alternative for either Sunday, June 28 or Sunday, July 26, at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.

Officials said they expect final decisions will come during the week of May 4.
