Kane County coordinates PPE donations

Kane County is accepting donations of personal protective equipment to assist in the COVID-19 response.

Businesses, medical and nursing schools, nail salons, tattoo parlors and residents may donate unused and unopened personal protective equipment in the parking lot of the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

The drop-off site will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday through April 17. Personnel from the Kane County Office of Emergency Management will staff the site.

People with a large amount of items to donate, such as a pickup truck's worth or larger, should email kanecountyeoc@countyofkane.org and the quantities of each item to donate, contact information and officials will reply to arrange a drop-off date, time, and location.

Items needed include: Surgical, isolation or N-95 masks; isolation and nonsurgical gowns; nitrile, sterile and surgical gloves; face shields; goggles; safety glasses; hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. All items should be in the manufacturer's original packaging and unopened. All donations will be distributed to health care and medical facilities, social services and first responders within Kane County.
