Drive-by food drive in Naperville

Naperville Sunrise Rotary will host its second Drive By Food Drive instead of a regular meeting on Friday.

The drive is scheduled for 8:30 to 10 a.m. in front of Naperville Country Club, the Sunrise Rotary's usual meeting spot, at 25W570 Chicago Ave.

Club members will have a vehicle parked in front of the Country Club so participants can load their donations into the trunk and wave hello or leave them on the curb.

Donations will benefit West Suburban Community Pantry in Woodridge, which serves more than 500 families a week from parts of Naperville, Lisle, Woodridge, Bolingbrook, Westmont, Willowbrook and Romeoville. Demand for pantry assistance has nearly doubled during the past few weeks because of the COVID-19 pandemic, while donations from some local grocers have decreased because of low supplies.

Items the pantry needs include: boxed sides, dinners or potatoes; pasta, pasta sauce, canned fruit, vegetables, beans, soups, chicken, tuna and tomato products; pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, jelly and diapers.
