Elmhurst man charged with sex assault on child

An Elmhurst man has been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, video-recording the attack and disseminating it, according to DuPage County court records.

Ernest A. Pearson, 34, of the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue, was charged Friday. As of Monday evening, he remained in the DuPage County jail on $500,000 bail.

He is charged with assaulting a child younger than 13 while she was sleeping on Jan. 5; child pornography, for recording it; and child pornography, for distributing it, according to court documents.

He also is charged with possession of child pornography.

If Pearson posts bond, he must wear a GPS tracker and stay at least 1,000 feet away from the victim and her residence. He also would have to stay off the internet and not have any contact with people younger than 18.

His next court date is April 3.

If convicted of the assault charge, Pearson faces six to 30 years in prison.
