Schaumburg Township cancels group activities through March 31

Schaumburg Township announced the cancellation of all group activities at township hall at 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates through March 31 to limit the spread of the coronavirus in the area.

Future cancellations will be assessed by the township's board of trustees, administrator and staff, officials said.

The township emphasized there have been no coronavirus cases connected to the township facility or programs.

Schaumburg Township will continue all other services, such as benefit assistance, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, transportation, food pantry, passports, the assessor's office and more. Officials are also working to move social programs online, where possible, to continue serving the community and battling social isolation.

The township has increased the cleaning of its common areas and buses, and will remain a polling place for the primary elections on Tuesday, March 17.
