Two new District 59 board members sworn in

Two new Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 board members were sworn in Monday to fill vacancies created by recent resignations of longtime board members.

Krzysztof Garlewicz and Robert Mancilla were chosen by remaining members of the elected panel, replacing Sharon Roberts and Karen Osmanski. They will serve the remainder of the respective terms, which expire in April 2021.

Garlewicz, of Des Plaines, was a member of the district's strategic plan team last year and has four children, the oldest of which attends Clearmont Elementary. Garlewicz is also president of ProsperiFi, LLC, a Rosemont-based financial planning firm.

Mancilla, of Arlington Heights, is married to wife Lucy, who is a dual language kindergarten teacher at John Jay Elementary. Their son is a dual language kindergarten student at Juliette Low Elementary. Mancilla served as assistant general counsel for Hoffman Estates-based Sears Holdings Management Corp. and currently is corporate counsel for a management consulting and software company.
