Waukegan fugitive arrested in Louisiana

A man wanted by Waukegan police on aggravated criminal sexual abuse and child pornography charges has been arrested in Louisiana, Lake County sheriff's police said in a news release.

Mario J. Colindres-Galeano, 26, of the 2100 block of Williamsburg Drive, Waukegan, was arrested Monday by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Warrants Team in conjunction with U.S. Marshals task forces from the Great Lakes Region and New Orleans.

Waukegan police obtained an arrest warrant for Colindres-Galeano last December.

Authorities later learned he fled Illinois and was hiding in Covington, Louisiana.

Police observed Colindres-Galeano trying to flee the residence through the rear access hatch of a chicken coop attached to the house.

He was arrested and is held in Louisiana awaiting extradition.
