No injuries in Waukegan apartment building fire

No one was injured in a fire that broke out Wednesday night at an apartment building in Waukegan and displaced 37 residents.

The fire was reported about 6:40 p.m. on the 300 block of North Butrick Street, according to Waukegan Fire Department Battalion Chief Doug Camarato. It began on the second floor of the building, Camarato said.

Two of the apartments sustained fire damage, meaning residents won't be able to move back in for weeks, Camarato estimated. The rest of the units had smoke and water damage, which is less severe, and those residents will be able to return in a few days, Camarato said.
