Candidates forum at Gail Borden Library in Elgin Feb. 19

The League of Women Voters of Elgin Area will host a candidates forum at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin for the contested primary races in the 8th Congressional District, 22nd and 25th state Senate districts, and the 65th state House District.

The invited candidates are Inam Hussain, Raja Krishnamoorthi and William Olson in the Democratic primary for the 8th District; Cristina Castro and Rae Yawer in the Democratic primary for the 22nd District; Beth Goncher and Jeanette Ward in the Republican primary for the 25th District; and Mohammed "Mo" Iqbal and Martha Paschke in the Democratic primary for the 65th District.

Krishnamoorthi's campaign said Tuesday the congressman would not be present at the Elgin forum, but will attend a forum at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Schaumburg Township District Library in Schaumburg.

Candidates will be allowed to participate even if their opponents do not attend, except for the 8th District primary, which must have at least two candidates present to participate.

The Gail Borden Public Library is at 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.
