Arlington Heights, police union reach three-year deal, mirroring firefighters'

Arlington Heights has inked a new contract with police officers that includes raises and benefit changes that mirror the labor agreement recently approved with firefighters.

The three-year agreement with the Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Arlington Heights Police Chapter #510 was unanimously approved Monday by the village board.

The deal awards rank-and-file officers a 2.5% raise retroactive to Jan. 1, a 2.3% raise in 2021, and a 2.25% raise in 2022. Officers will pay more toward insurance beginning in 2022, from an employee contribution of 12% to 14%, under the contract.

Those same terms were negotiated and approved in the three-year contract the village signed in November with Arlington Heights Firefighters Association, Local 3105 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Both agreements run through Dec. 31, 2022.

The police contract also gives officers an additional paid holiday and an increase in equipment allowance.

"Both sides worked diligently to get this work done, and it's going to promote harmony in the workplace," Police Chief Nick Pecora said.
