Lake County sheriff hosting academy for public

The Lake County sheriff's office is accepting applications for its 2020 Citizen Police Academy, which begins April 2 and runs for 10 weeks until June 4.

The academy provides Lake County residents a hands-on learning experience of the many facets of the sheriff's office, with instruction provided by sworn deputies and civilians in their fields of expertise. The academy is free to Lake County residents, but participants must be 18 or older, be of good moral character and have no felony convictions.

Sessions will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays at sheriff's office locations in Waukegan and Libertyville.
