Round Lake Park police arrest 3 juveniles after car burglaries

Round Lake Park Police said Friday that three juveniles have been charged in connection with about two dozen car burglaries in the village during December.

The names and ages of the three juveniles were not disclosed by authorities.

Using surveillance camera footage provided by residents, police found that three suspects had been wandering through several neighborhoods checking for unlocked car doors, according to a Round Lake Park Police news release.

Police said the juveniles were arrested New Year's Eve. Since the arrests, no vehicle burglaries have been reported, according to the news release.

"The officers diligence along with the cooperation of community members, who provided investigators hours of home video, brought this crime spree to a stop." Police Chief George Filenko said in the release.
