CLC to host summit on restorative justice next month
The College of Lake County will host a free Summit on Restorative Justice on Feb. 11 in Grayslake.
The summit will feature experts talking about the practice, which focuses on reducing crime by transforming the criminal justice system from punishment-only to a restorative mindset. Panelists will include: retired Judge Sheila Murphy of the University of Illinois-Chicago John Marshall Law School and the co-director of the Restorative Justice Project; Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim; Michelle Rappaport, who was named 2017 Social Worker of the Year by the Illinois Association of School Social Workers; and other guests. The summit is co-sponsored by CLC's legal studies department and the Center for Nonviolence. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
