One killed in Aurora hit-and-run

A pedestrian was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run crash in Aurora, police said.

The crash occurred near the 500 block of South River Street just before 7 p.m. Officers found a man in the roadway who was pronounced dead on the scene, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.

Officers couldn't locate the vehicle that hit the man.

South River Street was closed off between Prairie Street and Second Street for the preliminary investigation, and people were told to avoid the area.

Anyone with information about the crash should call Aurora police at (630) 256-5330. A cash reward of up to $5,000 has been offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest of felony offenders, and anonymity could be granted.
