Palatine Township Elementary District 15 board members had a moment of silence before last week's meeting in memory of the late Holly Pighini, most recently assistant principal at Lake Louise Elementary School in Palatine. Pighini, 47, of Barrington, died on Jan. 6. She began her District 15 career in 1998 as a teacher at Winston Campus and Frank C. Whiteley elementary schools, in Palatine and Hoffman Estates respectively. "Holly was a passionate educator, collaborative teaching partner and a truly wonderful person with many friends and many children that she led throughout the district," school board President Lisa Szczupaj said. Pighini's survivors include her husband, Steven. She was an avid runner and completed the Bank of America Chicago Marathon twice.
