Authorities: Man faces burglary charges after more than 100 stolen items found in his home

A Lake Barrington man faces felony charges after Lake County sheriff's detectives found in his home more than 100 items stolen during vehicle break-ins across the area, authorities said Thursday.

Hunter Grabowski, 24, of the 500 block of Beacon Drive, is charged with two counts of burglary, and more charges are pending, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

According to sheriff's police, Grabowski was arrested Wednesday on a $50,000 warrant issued after he failed to appear in court on a theft charge.

While serving the warrant, authorities said, deputies located property recently stolen in a nearby burglary. Detectives obtained a warrant to search Grabowski's home and located dozens of items taken during vehicle burglaries in Lake, McHenry, and Cook counties, sheriff's police said.

Grabowski was being held Thursday in the Lake County jail pending an initial court hearing.

"Breaking into someone's home or vehicle and stealing their hard-earned property is despicable and a complete violation of their privacy,"

Sheriff John Idleburg said Thursday in an announcement of the arrest. "I am happy our detectives recovered a significant amount of property and they will eventually be able to reunite the valuables with their owners."
