Gurnee volunteer fair set for Jan. 15

The Village of Gurnee and the Gurnee Park District will host a volunteer fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, to give nonprofit organizations serving Lake County an opportunity to match with potential volunteers.

The fair will take place at Viking Park Dance Hall, 4374 Old Grand Ave. in Gurnee.

Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik recognized the need for a volunteer fair after hearing from residents wanting to become more involved in the community, and also from organizations struggling to find volunteers.

"There appears to be a disconnect between the wonderful organizations serving our community and the residents looking for ways they could help others" she said.

There is no registration required for the event. Interested volunteers are encouraged to attend and learn more about organizations serving Lake County, with no obligation to join. The fair is open to all ages and will feature nearly 15 organizations looking for volunteers.
