Buffalo Grove man identified as victim of Mundelein crash

A man killed in a crash Wednesday was identified Thursday as a Buffalo Grove resident.

Richard Skloot, 56, died after a crash on Route 45 near Route 60 around 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the Lake County coroner's office. Skloot was driving a Lincoln MKZ when he turned left in front of a Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado struck the right side of the Lincoln, and Skloot was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

The autopsy, conducted Thursday, indicates Skloot died of multiple blunt-force trauma injuries as a result of the crash, the release said. The crash remains under investigation.

“We have been in close contact with Mr. Skloot's family, and our deepest condolences go out to them during this difficult time,” Coroner Howard Cooper said in the release. “This is truly a tragedy.”
