Recycle your Christmas tree in Lake County

The Lake County Forest Preserve District will recycle your Christmas tree now that the holiday is over.

Natural trees can be dropped off at specific spots at the following preserves: Grant Woods near Fox Lake; Greenbelt near Waukegan; Half Day near Vernon Hills; Heron Creek near Long Grove; Lakewood near Wauconda; Old School near Libertyville; Ryerson Woods near Deerfield; and Van Patten Woods near Wadsworth.

Trees will be chipped and used for trail and landscaping material at forest preserves throughout Lake County. The preserves are open from 6:30 a.m. to sunset daily. Undecorated trees can be dropped off through Feb. 1.
