Woman rescued from pond in Deer Park

A woman was rescued from a pond in Deer Park after falling through the ice Thursday night, authorities said.

The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department responded to the pond shortly before 6 p.m., where two boys said their mother was stuck in the pond, according to a news release from the department. The woman went onto the ice - about 50 feet from the shore - to help her two sons who fell through the ice while trying to rescue their dog, the release said.

The fire department sent a swimmer who got the woman out of the pond. Paramedics examined the woman, her sons and her husband, who was also at the scene trying to rescue his wife, the release said.

Two people were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in North Barrington in stable condition, the release said.
