Schneider donates air miles to charity

U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider, a Deerfield Democrat, is donating more than 57,000 frequent flyer miles earned through congressional travel to a charity benefiting military troops, his office announced Monday. The miles are going to the Hero Miles program, which purchases round-trip airline tickets for service members undergoing treatment at military medical centers or Veterans Affairs hospitals. The program is administered by the Fisher House Foundation. "Making travel a little easier to connect the men and women in uniform with their loved ones is the least we can do for those who serve us every day," Schneider said in a news release. Schneider represents Illinois' 10th District, which covers parts of Cook and Lake counties.
