Barrington village board honors pair of high school students

Recently honored by the Barrington Area Unit District 220 school board, more kudos were directed this week to Barrington High School golfer Mara Janess.

The Barrington village board issued a proclamation recognizing Janess, who in October became the school's first Class 2A girls golf individual state champion.

Also commended at the village board meeting was Barrington High student Kalina Pierga, who in March became the Illinois High School Association champion in a one-on-one, Lincoln-Douglas-style debate.

"We're still in 2019, so it's a timely accolade," Village President Karen Darch said.
