St. Charles nursing assistant guilty of punching patient

A Kane County jury on Wednesday convicted a St. Charles nursing assistant of punching an elderly man she was caring for in spring 2018.

Kristin M. Mullis, 41, of the 1600 block of Indiana Street, was convicted of aggravated battery to a victim 60 or older in the April 11, 2018, case. Prosecutors presented evidence in a trial this week that Mullis punched a patient at a long-term care center.

Mullis, a certified nursing assistant, was tending to a patient who had become agitated while being moved back to his bed after a shower when prosecutors say Mullis punched him. She was arrested in early May 2018, according to Kane County court records.

Mullis, who is free on $500 bond, is next due in court on March 12, 2020, for sentencing by Judge D.J. Tegeler. She faces a sentence ranging from probation to up to five years in prison.
