New principal named for Algonquin Middle School in Des Plaines
Veteran educator Donald Jones has been chosen as the next principal of Algonquin Middle School in Des Plaines, officials in Des Plaines Elementary District 62 announced Wednesday.
Jones' appointment formally was approved at the board of education meeting Monday and he will begin work Aug. 1,
"I am thankful and excited to join the staff at Algonquin and District 62," Jones said in an announcement of his hire. "I am eager to meet with staff, students and parents and get to work."
Jones currently is in his second year at George Washington Middle School in Lyons. Before becoming principal, he served as an assistant principal, special education coordinator and special education teacher. He earned his bachelor's degree in education from Monmouth College, his master's degree in education leadership from Aurora University and is working on his doctorate at Concordia University.
Jones lives in Evergreen Park with his wife, Laura, and his two young daughters.
