Two men shot and killed each other Monday morning after one of them ambushed the other while he was with his 18-month-old son in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

Alton D. Ellis, 31, was with his toddler about 8:40 a.m. on the 6200 block of South Mozart Street when another man approached him on foot and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
