Pingree Grove man pleads guilty to having child pornography, gets 3 years in prison

A Pingree Grove man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography possession from a 2017 arrest.

Santos Reyna, 44, of the 1900 block of Peninsula Court, was arrested and charged with 10 counts of child pornography in late December 2017 after an investigation by the state attorney general's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force resulted in a search warrant for his house.

At the time of Reyna's arrest, police said the investigation did not reveal any danger to the community and that no evidence had been found to indicate Reyna had any personal contact with children in the images.

The charges carried a sentence ranging from three to seven years in prison, although probation was an option.

Judge Kathryn Karayannis accepted the guilty plea Thursday and issued the prison term, according to Kane County court records.

Reyna also must pay $1,530 in court fines and fees. He can have his sentence cut in half for good behavior.

Reyna, who had been free on bond, was taken into custody after the plea. He gets credit for 27 days served in jail and must register as a sex offender.

A message left with Reyna's defense attorney, Scott Sheen, was not immediately returned.
