Church ministry launches Bahamas Recovery drive

The Trinity Center ministry in Carpentersville collected a host of items for those in need during its two-day Bahamas Recovery drive, which began Friday.

The drive, which continues from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, was collecting new or gently used foldable walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, canes and orthopedic supplies, along with tarps of any size, blankets, shovels and flashlights with working batteries.

The center, which is a ministry of Barrington United Methodist Church, is collecting these items to assist in the Bahamas recovery effort in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, which caused widespread destruction on the island nation in September.

Also needed to make Personal Dignity Kits are: hand towels, wash cloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soaps, travel shampoos, 2.3-ounce deodorants, combs, nail clippers, adhesive bandages, razors with guard and gallon zip-close bags.
