Top Rolling Meadows police brass promoted

The Rolling Meadows Police Department has promoted three to top administrative positions on the force.

At a city council meeting Tuesday night, Mayor Joe Gallo administered the oath of office to: John Sircher, who was promoted from commander to deputy chief; Mike Spanos, from sergeant to commander; and Carlos Saez, from officer to sergeant.

Sircher, now the second-highest ranking official in the department after Chief John Nowacki, was hired in September 1992 as a patrol officer, then worked his way up to sergeant in 2004 and commander in 2016.

The wave of promotions by Nowacki took effect after the Sept. 30 retirement of Deputy Chief Bill Arneson, who spent 32 years with the department.
