CLC names new dean of Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts

The College of Lake County has named Sheldon Walcher as dean of the Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts division.

Walcher will oversee 10 transfer disciplines, from art to world languages, as well as four career programs that range from digital media and design to technical communication.

He previously served an associate dean of humanities, social sciences and the library at Kankakee Community College, and before that he was associate dean of English and academic English as a Second Language at College of DuPage. Walcher also has served as director of writing composition at Roosevelt University and University of Southern Mississippi.

CLC President Lori Suddick said Walcher's experience in strategic planning, leadership and innovative programming are critical in CLC's efforts to increase opportunities for students.
