District 211 board to discuss transgender locker room access Thursday

In anticipation of a larger crowd, the Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 board of education meeting on Thursday, Nov. 14 will be held at William Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Road in Palatine.

At the meeting, the board will hear public comment, discuss and possibly vote on a controversial proposed policy to grant transgender students unrestricted access to the locker rooms of the gender they identify as.

Transgender students currently are required to use private changing stalls in the locker rooms. The stalls are optional for all other students.

The board will meet in closed session at 6:30 p.m., with the open part of the meeting and public comment to start at 7:30 p.m.
