Barrington to host recycling event on Oct. 26

Barrington will host a document destruction event at the Metra lot on Wool Street from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26. Residents from Barrington and other SWANCC communities are eligible to participate.

Materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools or institutions. IDs will be checked for verification of residency. More information on eligibility is at http://www.swancc.org/swancc-member-communities.

Workers will remove the paper documents while residents stay in their vehicles. Paper is cross-shredded on site and will be recycled to make new paper products. Only sensitive documents are accepted - that can include medical forms, bank statements, personal files and retired tax forms. There is a limit of six (6) file boxes or paper bags per vehicle. Plastic and metal clips or binders must be removed. Photos, slides and any non-paper items must be removed.
