Man airlifted to hospital after being hit by car in St. Charles Township

A St. Charles Township man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries Tuesday night after he was hit by a car along Courier Avenue, authorities said.

A Ford Crown Victoria was heading west about 9 p.m. when it struck 40-year-old David Busby, who was walking in the roadway near the Sycamore Avenue intersection, according to a news release from the Kane County sheriff's office.

Busby was airlifted to a Chicago-area hospital, authorities said. The driver of the car, a 28-year-old St. Charles woman, was uninjured.

No tickets have been issued as of Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff's detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating.
