Aurora man charged with unprovoked attack in Kane County courtroom

An Aurora resident has been indicted on felony charges for punching another man multiple times during an unprovoked attack while they were seated in a Kane County courtroom, authorities said Tuesday.

A grand jury on Sept. 24 indicted Rasheed L. Norman, 27, of the 2100 block of Lilac Lane, on two counts of aggravated battery.

Prosecutors allege Norman punched the victim in the head and body Aug. 26 while in Courtroom 203 at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles Township.

Norman is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Oct. 10. If convicted, he faces a sentence of probation or between two and five years in prison.
