Schaumburg Autumn Harvest Festival coming this weekend

The Schaumburg Park District's Autumn Harvest Festival is set for noon to 4 p.m., Oct. 5 and 6, at Spring Valley's Merkle Cabin and Heritage Farm.

The hands-on festival will take attendees back to life on a farm more than 100 years ago, with live music on two stages and demonstrations of cider pressing, blacksmithing and fall planting. Other activities include children's crafts and 19th century games.

Grilled food, taffy apples, cold beverages and other fall treats will be available for purchase.

The cost is $5 per person and $20 per family per day. Children ages 3 and younger are free. Parking is available at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, and across from Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road.
