North Chicago man arrested in fatal hit-and-run

A North Chicago man is in custody at the Lake County jail on $750,000 bail facing allegations he fled the scene of a deadly crash last week in Waukegan.

Chance D. Presley, 34, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death stemming from the Sept. 19 crash that killed a bicyclist.

According to Waukegan police, investigators believe Presley was driving a silver 2006 Cadillac SUV when it struck the man's bicycle as he rode near Jackson and 8th streets about 10:45 p.m. Sept. 19.

The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has been identified only as a Waukegan resident in his 60s.

Presley is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 15. In addition to the new charge, police say he also was wanted on two Lake County warrants related to domestic matters.
