Antioch sex offender sentenced to 15 years

A 36-year-old Antioch man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty this year to enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Prosecutors said Casey Ireland lured two 15-year-old Wisconsin girls using online messaging apps in May 2017. The first girl he picked up at her Wisconsin high school and drove her to his home, where they engaged in sex acts, Ireland admitted. The second girl, Ireland picked up at a park near her home in Wisconsin before driving her across the border to his home to engage in sex acts.

The second girl alerted authorities, who took over her social media accounts and began a sting operation to capture Ireland. He was arrested at the Wisconsin park in June 2017. Investigators uncovered hundreds of sexually explicit messages between Ireland and the girls, court records showed.

Ireland was facing a life sentence. He will be placed on national and statewide sex offender registries for the remainder of his life as well.
