Fundraiser to help families coping with sudden loss set for Friday in Wheeling

The Lauri S. Bauer Foundation for Sudden Loss is hosting a Casino Night fundraiser beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, at the Westin North Shore, 601 N Milwaukee Ave., in Wheeling.

The not-for-profit foundation was founded by Lauri's friends and family in her honor to give help, healing and hope to children and their families that have suffered a sudden loss or crisis. Lauri was a 43-year-old Northwest suburban mother of three sons when she died of a sudden heart arrhythmia in January 2011.

In addition to casino games, the event will feature cocktails, dinner, dessert, live music and a raffle.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will help those who have suffered a sudden loss and are in need of assistance to reclaim their lives. Funds will subsidize programs including grief counseling and other forms of support required for the physical and spiritual journey of recovery.
