Tornado warning in Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a tornado warning until 5 p.m. today for southern Kane County, northern Kendall County and southeastern DeKalb counties.

According to the weather service, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Hinckley at 4:14 p.m. The storm was moving east at 15 mph.

The weather service advises moving to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter to protect yourself from flying debris.
