Antioch to discuss marijuana regulations Monday

Antioch village officials are hosting a public meeting regarding the sale of recreational cannabis in the village at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Antioch Senior Center, 817 Holbek Drive.

Beginning Jan. 1, a new state law allows adults 21 and older to possess cannabis or buy cannabis products in licensed stores. A presentation is planned to address these topics and share information as village officials determine how to proceed.

Local governments can allow or prohibit the sale of recreational marijuana in their communities. Towns also can regulate the location of craft growers, infusers and cultivation centers and sites where cannabis can be consumed.
