Lake County Forest Preserve issues hiking challenge

Lake County Forest Preserve District officials are challenging you to go hiking this fall. Complete seven hikes on any of 12 district trails by Nov. 30 and earn a commemorative shield for a walking stick or a special zipper pull.

Hikes must be recorded in a district travel log. Dog companions can earn special tags, too. Bicycling or horseback riding does not count toward the program.

To participate, submit travel logs online or bring them to any Hike Lake County Center. They also can be mailed with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Lake County Forest Preserves, 1899 West Winchester Road, Libertyville, IL, 60048 by Jan. 31, 2020.
