Dog rescued, firefighter taken to hospital after Hoffman Estates fire

A home in Hoffman Estates caught fire Thursday morning, officials said.

Hoffman Estates fire was called to a home in the 1600 block of Glen Lake Road at about 8:55 a.m. after the front of the two-story property caught fire, according to a news release from the Hoffman Estates Fire Department.

Firefighters searched the home, which was clear of people, and rescued a dog, the release said. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly but had to overhaul parts of the home because it was inside a wall and the attic.

One firefighter was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center but was later released, according to the release.

The home's smoke detectors were working properly but it didn't have a sprinkler system, the release said.

Authorities are investigating the incident. The home sustained an estimated $150,000 in damage.
