Kaneland District 302, teachers ratify 5-year contract

Teachers in Kaneland Unit District 302 will receive raises totaling roughly 20.38% over the life of a five-year contract unanimously ratified this week by the school board.

The pact calls for average yearly salary increases of 4.1% and will boost the pay for a starting teacher from $41,500 in the first year of the contract to $43,269 by the fifth. Insurance benefits and retirement enhancements will be unchanged.

Officials said 99% of teachers voted Aug. 1 to ratify the deal, which extends their contract through the 2023-24 school year.

The district's six schools serve students from Aurora, Cortland, Elburn, Kaneville, Maple Park, Montgomery, North Aurora, Sugar Grove and Virgil.
