Bulgarian exhibit to open Friday at Elk Grove library

Elk Grove Village officials are expected to join Bulgarian Consul General Ivan Anchev at the public library Friday night for the opening of a small exhibit on the country's Surva cultural festival.

A 6 p.m. ceremony in the library meeting room will feature remarks from dignitaries followed by the sharing of Bulgarian food. The display case in the front library includes photos from the annual cultural fest in Bulgaria, which Elk Grove Village Trustee Pat Feichter and Police Chief Chuck Walsh attended in January.

That trip came after a Bulgarian delegation from the city of Pernik visited Elk Grove last November to sign a friendship agreement under the Sister Cities program.
