Elgin police seek help to identify man after armed robbery

Elgin police are asking people for help in identifying a man suspected of committing an armed robbery Thursday evening.

The robbery took place in the 900 block of Dundee Avenue, when a black man who was about 45 years old and 6 feet tall with a medium build entered the establishment, displayed a handgun, and demanded money, police said in a Facebook post.

The man fled on foot westbound. No one was injured during the robbery, police said.

The police department's major investigation division is investigating.

Anyone with information that can help identify the man in the photo, drawn from surveillance video, is asked to call (847) 289-2600, or text a tip to 847411 and include ElginPD in the beginning of the text, along with the tip.
