Bickham resigns as Hoffman Estates Park District commissioner
Hoffman Estates Park District Commissioner Mike Bickham has resigned his position after 18 years' service to take a new job out of state.
"Enjoyed is an understatement to express my time serving here," Bickham said in his farewell statement to the board. "I know (the park district) is in good hands going forward."
Beginning in 2001, Bickham served for a decade as a community representative on the park district's administration and finance committee.
In 2011, he was appointed to the district's board of commissioners to fill the term of Scott Triphahn, who died after a battle with cancer.
Bickham was later elected to the board and has served as its treasurer, assistant secretary, vice president and three terms as board president.
The park district is accepting letters of interest to fill Bickham's unexpired term through April 2021. Letters are due by 5 p.m. Friday, June 14, and should be sent to the Hoffman Estates Park District, Attn: Jane Kaczmarek, 1685 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169, or emailed to jkaczmarek@heparks.org.
To qualify, applicants must have lived within the borders of the Hoffman Estates Park District for at least a year, be a registered voter, and able to attend board and committee meetings on the third and fourth Tuesdays of each month, as well as other meetings, as needed.
