Beyond the Byline: Lisa Miner, Metro Editor

Lisa Friedman Miner's experience at the Daily Herald crosses many aisles of the newsroom.

As metro editor, she plans, edits and oversees entertainment coverage in Time out! and Time out! Sunday. She helps guide the paper's arts coverage of movies, theater, television and more, plus she coordinates the paper's summer and fall festival guides.

In addition, Lisa is a member of the newspaper's editorial board who has written on a wide array of topics. She also contributes to news editing.

Lisa discovered a love of journalism - and newsrooms - while working at the Daily Illini during her college years at the University of Illinois. She served in a number of roles at the student newspaper, including editor-in-chief her senior year.

Lisa joined the Daily Herald shortly after graduating, working initially as a news reporter before transferring to the features department. She won a number of writing awards over the years for her stories on lifestyle trends, health and entertainment before becoming assistant features editor.

Learning new things every day - and working with incredible colleagues - have been Lisa's greatest joys in a career that now spans more than three decades.
